Refresh Man – EP 1 Recap & Review

Alright, another Taiwanese drama to watch! Honestly, this seems to be yet another Taiwan workplace romance drama. Can it really be all that different from the others? WELL, I decided to try this out because of the lead casting. The main characters are played by Aaron Yan (my Taiwanese drama BAE), and Joanne Tseng (she impressed me in Marry Me, Or Not). So let’s dive into this recap and I’ll let you know my thoughts on the first ep!With a recap comes spoilers, so if you’d rather just watch it yourself, click on over here.

Please Come Back, Mister – EP 6 Recap & Review

I really hoped this episode would have some good things finally happen for the characters. But within the first 10 minutes, it’s clear that’s just not something thats going to be happening. With a recap comes spoilers, so if you’d rather just watch it yourself, click on over here.

Please Come Back, Mister – EP 4 Recap & Review

Yeah, so I try to make these shorter, but I just get really into recounting the details of the episode in fear of missing something important. Oh well. Disclaimer; With a recap comes spoilers, so if you’d rather just watch it yourself, click on over here.

This episode starts right where 3 left off, with the stare down between Kim Yong Soo, and the Department Store’s president. As stated before, YS is in a body identical to that of the CEO’s hidden son Lee Hae Joon, who was on his way to prove himself with his Time Magazine worthy management skills. This Lee Hae Joon is also the half brother of the store president, who is also Song Yi Yeon’s ex and baby daddy, and also the douchiest guy in town. Like he is the actual worst.

It’s never too late for a father-daughter bonding session.

Alright episode 3! We get some good inter-character relations, experience some feels, experience some ??? inducing scenes, AND get another awesome look at Rain’s six-pack! I’m really loving how Rain and Oh Yeon Seo are bringing the characters of Kim Yong Soo and Han Gi Tak to life. I’m not really loving the whole angel agency protocol and the way they are explaining everything. There’s already so many levels to the story that for the real Lee Hae Joon to exist is kind of giving me a headache, and he’s not even in the immediate vicinity yet. I’ll explain why I find that problematic later on, but first, lets start at the beginning of the ep!

Episode 2 starts off with the limbo clerk madam from last ep, angrily rushing to enter an office that clearly hasn’t been used for a long time. Unfortunately for her, she won’t be able to go on vacation any time soon! First, she has to deal with our guys Kim Yong Soo and Han Gi Tak, who impulsively jumped off the heaven train. As she opens it, she explains a situation like this one hasn’t happened for a few hundred years.

There is a process that happens for those who feel they have unfinished business in the living world rather than pass on to heaven. After their fall from heaven, the guys are given a very unique opportunity. They can return to the world of the living and take care of their business, but the limbo madam (who will be serving as their guide) warns them; if they break any of the set rules, something very scary will happen to them. So scary that she won’t go into more detail. Kim Yong Soo’s reason for going back is to make sure he can make things right for his family, and Han Gi Tak’s reason is to make sure he can eliminate any problems he may have caused for Song Yi Yeon. This was a fun part, because the madam desperately tries to get GT to stop his decision, saying that it’s a bit much for him to go through this process just for a woman who was never officially anything with him. Obviously, this process won’t be easy, hopefully making for an interesting story for us viewers!

Please Come Back, Mister – EP 1 Recap & Review

I started ep 1 of drama Please Come Back, Mister not knowing exactly what to expect. I was drawn in by the somewhat formidable casting of Rain, Lee Min Jung, Oh Yeon Seo and Honey Lee. Another reason I have decided to tune in is because it is going to have a supernatural element to it (i.e. ghosts and possession), that was done beautifully in last years Oh My Ghostess. With a recap comes spoilers, so if you’d rather just watch it yourself, click on over here. That being said, let me get into the recap of the first ep!

So the opening has your average joe type man snoring away in what looks like a field. Is this a dream? Is this reality? Nope! As he wakes up, also curious as to his whereabouts, this man (who we later learn is Kim Young Soo) searches around and stumbles into another man (Han Gi Tak). Both are unsure of where they are, with no recollection of how they got there. In search of an answer, Kim Young Soo bumps into an authoritatively clad ahjussi. Determined to get to the bottom of this, he immediately asks where in the world he is. The ahjussi motions towards a sign behind him, indicating two railroad paths; one to heaven, and one to hell (*insert ominous voice acting*).

Marry Me, Or Not? – Drama Review

Ok, so I’ll start off by saying these are all just my personal thoughts and opinions! Honestly, I was experiencing somewhat of an asian drama dry spell at the end of last year. Nothing was particularly catching my eye in the drama circuit. However, last week I logged into Viki and I spotted Marry Me, Or Not? being showcased on the homepage. The reason I decided to click was due to the main pairing, Roy Qiu and Alice Ke. I was surprised to see them brought back together, but then again, they do have a great on-screen chemistry. Trusting in this, I decided to watch the first episode.

Marry Me, Or Not? is a 2015 Taiwanese rom-com. So what makes it special? Honestly, I

Arm biting is cute, not crazy. Right??

really think that it’s the actor’s portrayal of their characters that make this drama stand out from others. As long as I was watching their story evolve, I wanted to keep watching. The main characters are Hao Meng, portrayed by Roy Qiu, and Cai Huan Zhen, portrayed by Alice Ke. Hao Meng aka Justin is the cream of the crop when it comes to divorce lawyers in Taiwan, and Cai Huan Zhen is a strong independent female with business savvy, working her way to the top of the ladder in the tourism industry. At the beginning of the drama, it’s clear that these characters have a great deal of growing to do.

Alice Ko as Cai Huan Zhen, actual queen?

Cai Huan Zhen’s plan is to keep ambitiously working her way up, and in the meanwhile do her best to fall in love and get married. She finds herself engaged to the uncle of her nemesis and ex-best friend, Hao Sheng Nan. After a series of events, mainly in which the marriage falls through at the altar due to a nasty set-up by Sheng Nan, Cai Huan Zhen finds herself a woman scorned. In order to get even with Hao Sheng Nan, she decides to make a move for who she thinks is her boyfriend (Hao Meng), but is actually her brother!

A very dapper Roy Qiu as Hao Meng.

Alright, OFCOURSE this is a ridiculous setup, but I honestly didn’t mind because even though Huan Zhen had some poor experiences with Justin originally, it was clear that they were a match for each other through their interactions. Thus propels forward the great act, in which Cai Huan Zhen is meeting with Hao Meng in order get back at Hao Sheng Nan, and the cynical Justin is meeting Cai Huan Zhen in order to deter his mother from setting him up on never ending blind dates. The fun in this is that they do have an undeniable chemistry, and whenever they are together they are constantly questioning what are just tactics and what is real.

The chemistry is real! *_*

What makes this drama especially interesting is how the characters develop after becoming involved with each other. I found it really easy to identify with both characters, whether it was how Cai Huan Zhen pretended that she didn’t care what others thought of her in order to protect herself and her emotions, or how Hao Meng was skeptical about loving and caring for someone, when his main line of work deals with cleanly breaking people up (and dealing with his parent’s dysfunctional marriage). Thanks to this, I was able to accept most of the cringe inducing drama moments (ex. Hao Meng is fighting to grab Huan Zhen’s phone and in the struggle grabs her boob -_- ).

Can I also randomly add that I loved Cai Huan Zhen’s eyeliner throughout the series? AND the adorable trip to Busan, South Korea! The bottom line is if you are a sucker for a romantic comedy drama with palpable chemistry between leads, then you need to check out this one! This is all my personal taste, but I’d love to see other’s thoughts on the drama, so please feel free to leave a comment below! ^_*
